more Cuttlebug border fun

I made this first card using the
Sizzix XL scallop card die. I embossed the top layer with one of my new Cuttlebug Just My Type embossing borders and cut out the windows using a Sizzix movers and shapers die. The stamped images and sentiment are all by Inkadinkado and stamped using Memento dye ink. I colored the images with Prismacolor pencils blended with the Goo Gone Mess-free pen. The embellishments are Prima leaves. The "berries" are faux dew drops from Michael's.

I like having fun with transparencies. I used a heavy weight transparency as my card base. The green layer was embossed with another one of the new Cuttlebug Just My Type embossing borders. The corner punch was Tonic. The toad and sentiment die cuts are both by Cuttlebug. The toad is attached by a pop dot to lend more dimension. The corner embellishments are
Robin's Nest dew drops.

A couple of quick cards

I just love stamping with the Inkadinkado clear Mini Sets. They're such fun!

This first card was stamped using one of the Inkadinkado sets and Memento dye ink and then colored with Prismacolor markers. These inks are great with markers--no smudging or bleeding, and I didn't heat set them. Love that! I embellished with Primas and Robin's Nest Dew Drops.

For this card I used the scraps from some cardstock that I'd cut using the Sizzix XL scalloped card die. The scraps make great waves, especially when layered. Again, the sentiments and images were stamped using Memento dye inks. I'm particularly fond of the London Fog, which I use when I plan on doing some coloring. It's just a bit more subtle than stamping an outline in black ink. This time I colored with my Copic Spica glitter pens. I then went back over that and simulated some fish scales with my Sakura Stardust pen which added most of the sparkle that you can see on the fish in the photo. I'd accented the smaller bubbles with my clear Sakura Glaze pen, and added dew drops on the others. The four toward the bottom of the card are all faux dew drops--the ones from Michael's. The one near the fish is a clear Robin's Nest Dew Drop. It's just a bit smaller and doesn't have as high as profile as the others.

Ahhh, it feels good to be stamping again, even if I'm multitasking and doing laundry, too. :-)

two more diagonally Cuttled cards

It was bound to happen. Today it occurred to me to use that Lacy Days of Summer Fiskars border punch with diagonal Cuttling. LOL! Here are the two cards that I made.

As you can see, I also thought of using patterned paper. This is the heavier stuff that's more suitable for card-making. For this first card I used the Cuttlebug Floral Fantasy embossing folder on Basic Grey Infuse paper. I made my score lines using my Scor-It. The sentiment is by Hero Arts. I embellished with faux dew drops and used the Lacy Days of Summer border punch as a finishing touch.

For this card I used double-sided paper by K & Company and embossed it diagonally with the Perfectly Paisley embossing folder. I cut off the lower corner at an angle and punched it using that same Fiskars Lacy Days of Summer border punch. I accented the embossing and edges of the cardfront with brown chalk ink. The stamped images are by Hero Arts.

Shopping finds at M's

I do most of my shopping online these days, but occasionally I'll buzz into Michael's to see what they have that I might need. I did relatively little damage today, even with no coupon available this week, but came across some fun finds and good buys.

I don't have a pic, but I know people have been searching for those Bride's pearlescent confetti flowers. I noticed today that Michael's had them back on the endcap where I'd first seen them weeks ago. They were sold out for a while, but now they're back and both the white and the cream colors were available. There were lots of each, too.

I also came across these small Offray ribbon flowers with small pearls in the centers. I don't think these are large enough to cost extra postage to mail, but it probably depends on how picky your post office is. They're fun and come in a package of 50. A nice change from the usual paper or mulberry flowers.

I love the Robin's Nest Dew Drops. I think they're great fun! I found something very similar at Michael's today in the floral section.

These are the colors that they had. Size-wise, they're the same as the bigger dew drops. Now with the Robin's Nest dew drops, you get a variety of colors and some variation in size in that cute bottle. There isn't as much variety here. There are a couple of different yellows in that bag. Just one in the blue one along with some clear drops. There was the dark red and the pink. Those pale yellow green ones had some clear drops mixed with them. Originally I wasn't going to buy the clear ones. Then it occurred to me that I could probably color them myself either using Sharpies or maybe my Copics. Alcohol inks would be another alternative. Oh, the wheels were turning! But the best part? I only spent a couple of bucks per bag. What a deal! LOL! What's in the photo up above cost me the same as two bottles of Dew Drops. I'd never be able to go through all of these, so I'm sure that I'll be giving some away at some point.

Here's how I'm storing them for now. No cute bottles, but then again it's easier to unscrew the top and pull out the faux dew drops that I need rather than having to pour them out. This is the larger set of stackable containers that can be found in most craft aisles--it measures 2 3/4" across the top. I was able to fit maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of what was in each bag into each container. Looks pretty, too, eh? Very spring-like colors!

Oh, I love a great day of shopping! And I should be all set for when the rain comes in later.
