Cool Kitty and Coffee

I was experimenting with my Swiss Dots Cuttlebug embossing folder today. The background on this card was made by running the cardstock through, inking it, running it through again, inking it in a different color, and then running it through a final time, and inking it in one more color. The reason why the multicolor effect worked was because I moved the cardstock inside the folder slightly so that the existing dots were flattened as the new dots were made. So anyway, there's a texture effect to the background that may not have come across well in the photo.

This is an acrylic card. The images are by See D's. The embellishments are Bling Dots.

I made this next card mainly so that I could play a bit more with decorative scoring with my Scor-It.

The stamped images are by My Favorite Things and were colored with markers. Interestingly, there is a bit of a metallic sheen to that layer but the marker ink did not puddle and actually soaked in a bit. The embossed lines were all made using my Scor-It.

Non-traditional Valentine

Today I was inspired by some patterned cardstock that I came across in a grab bag. I thought this made a great non-traditional Valentine's Day card. Since I didn't put a sentiment on it, it could probably be used for an occasion other than Valentine's Day, too.

I embossed the patterned cardstock with the Cuttlebug D'vine Swirls embossing folder. The stamped images are by Autumn Leaves Rhonna Farrer.

This next card used the same technique of embossing patterned cardstock. I used the Cuttlebug Stylized Flowers folder on this one.

The stamped image is by See D's. The border punch is by Fiskars. I'd been thinking of spring today because it was so pretty outside. I love the spring colors of this card! Now I just have to face the reality that winter isn't finished with us yet. I can wish though! :-)

No longer stressed over distressed

When the latest Cuttlebug A2 embossing folders were released, I ordered most of them. Just couldn't help myself. :-) One of the folders that I was a little iffy on was the Distressed Stripes. Well, I had fun using it on my "double Cuttle" cards yesterday. I used it again today, but in a slightly different way.

It's tough to see in that photo above, but I didn't just orient the folder differently. I ran it through twice, after stamping the sunflower image and coloring it, that is.

I think the close up shows the effect nicely, and it's a neat distressed look but doesn't overwhelm my sunflower, which is by Skipping Stones Design, by the way. I just ran the stamped cardstock through one way, then ran it through again after giving it a quarter turn inside the folder. Would probably look pretty neat with the stripes accented a bit, too. I didn't think of that until just now though. :-) Maybe next time. Oh, and the sentiment is by See D's.
