extremely fast and easy card

I was playing with a couple of things that I'd ordered from Stampin' Up! I ended up making a card that I liked and it was so incredibly fast and easy to make that I thought I'd share it here.

Here's the card....

The embossing on the card front was made using the Elegant Bouquet A2 textured impressions folder by Sizzix/SU! That is the design of the folder--no partial or selective embossing on my part. The embossed sentiment was made using the Hi embosslit by Sizzix/SU! Since I went with white on white, it looks like the sentiment was embossed directly on the card front. It wasn't. The oval shape is a separate piece of embossed card stock that was adhered to the front. I thought it was a fun look.

So, with two passes through my Big Shot and a bit of adhesive, I ended up with a card that looks like it took a lot more time and trouble to make than it actually did. Now I'll have to see if I can do something similar with other embosslits and embossing folders. :-)

more fun with the Scor-It ruler

In my recent post describing the Scor-It ruler, I tried my hand at a pattern of scores that I'd seen on the Scor-It site called Starbursts. I'd modified it a bit by making my scores a little farther apart. This time I took that same idea and modified it a little more. I made my initial scores 1/2" apart in the starburst pattern, then I turned my card stock over and repeated the scores 1/2" apart, but made them halfway between each of the original scores. Follow that? So basically I ended up with mountain and valley scores that were 1/4" apart and which look kinda neat when they're in a starburst pattern.

This is what I mean. There are scored lines every 1/4", but they alternate being debossed vs embossed. I know that wasn't a great photo, but it still showed the effect of the alternating scores rather nicely.

Here it is on a quickie card. The stamped image is by Hero Arts. The sentiment is by PSX. The die cuts were made using a Sizzlit embosslit die. All inks are Memento dye inks.

I'm having a lot of fun playing with this new Scor-It ruler. :-)

more holiday cards

Die cuts and embossing folders can make creating holiday cards go quickly. Here are some of the ones that I made today.

I pulled out a number of supplies that I'd been wanting to use, but hadn't had time to pull out. Up above, the deer die cut and the embossed deer image and its frame are both by Sizzix. The latter is one of the new XL embosslits. The tag die cut is by Cuttlebug. The stamped images are by Making Memories and stamped using Memento dye ink. I embellished with some Distress Stickles and Brides and Prima flowers.

For this card I used the Cuttlebug Snowflake A2 embossing folder for the card front. The snowman and his accessories as well as his embossing were all done with the Cuttlebug Snow Fun combo. The sentiment is by Sizzix, and the snowflakes were made using a Martha Stewart snowflake punch.

This last card is one that I'd been wanting to try for a while. I love the simple elegance of the Lace Tree image--this is a Cuttlebug A2 embossing folder. I wanted a simple sentiment and decided to go with the fairly understated "With Love" embossing border. The bling is 2mm size rhinestones. I love these because they're so small and understated. I have to laugh though because when you end up using so many of them I'm not sure how understated that really is! LOL! But I do like the way it turned out. :-)

Valentine's Day Double Cuttle

I don't usually make many cards for Valentine's Day, but I made one earlier using by combining folders and "double cuttling", as I did the other day. This time I used the Cuttlebug Script embossing folder then the Stylized Flowers to make the background, and I left the embossings untouched. The heart die cut is a Sizzix embosslit die. The sentiment is by Hero Arts. I added that small heart with a Copic Spica glitter pen. The embossed lines accenting the sentiment were made using my Scor-It.

Happy Valentine's Day! :-)
