How Random! - DCM

I'm playing catch-up on challenges. This is a card that I made for the most recent daring cardmakers challenge, How Random! The challenge was to list 20 or so crafty items and to randomly choose 3-5 and make a card using ONLY those items, plus base cardstock.

My list included: patterned paper... bazzill bling... primas... eyelets... stamps... brads... ink... buttons... fibers... ribbon... chipboard... diecuts... punches... shaped clips... Stickles... gel pens... glitter... transparency... vellum... embossing.

This is what came from the random draw: patterned paper, transparency, embossing, buttons, diecuts. Yikes, no stamping and no ink! Okay. Here's what I came up with.

The patterned papers are from DCWV Glitter Stack. I embossed my transparency using the Cuttlebug bloom dots embossing folder. The sentiment is a QK die cut made from my base cardstock. My one small cheat was using a bit of fiber in my buttonholes, but buttons look so naked without that! This was fun, but I did miss being able to pull out my inks and my stamps, just to add a little something extra. I do like this card though, and I enjoyed the challenge. :-)

  1. This card is fab Jay. I love that you've embossed a transparency, it's a great idea and a cool look.

And as for the little cheat, well worth it, the buttons need it :)

    Thanks for sharing

  2. That transparency looks fantastic! A really pretty card - I think that buttons need someting too so I am sure that the little addition is allowed :)

  3. well done you - it looks great. It's sooo hard not being able to reach for your favourite stuff - and it's quite enlightening just how many different items we use every time we make a card!

  8. Love those colours, perfect for spring! And the effect with the transparency is very clever. I know what you mean about inks, I rarely make a card without them (and I was lucky, they ended up on my list for this dare, yay!).

  9. You are right buttons look so bare with nothing in them as do flowers without some sort of centre!
    Fabby card.
